J.Crew: Dressy Jersey Strapless Dress Review

This is J.Crew's Dressy Jersey Strapless Dress (item #14982), which retails for $78, and is alpha-sized.  J.Crew describes the dress as such:

A carefree, summery silhouette, in our refined, sophisticated jersey viscose. Fitted bodice with boning for added support. Removable halter strap. Empire waist. Falls above knee; 21" from natural waist. Import. Machine wash.
It comes in four colors: navy, dark charcoal, marine aqua (above and below), and papaya.  I saw this dress online, and wasn't totally sure what I thought about it.  My personal shopper brought it to me to try on, and in the color that I would have picked, too!  So naturally, I had to try it on!

I tried this dress on in my regular alpha dress size, and I found that it fits true-to-size.  The jersey material is the same as the Dressy Jersey Ruffle Dress - super nice and smooth, and with a little bit of weight to it.

The dress doesn't have a ton of shape to it, but I was glad to see that the dress is just as butt-hugging on the model as it was on me.  I was a little unsure about the bit of cling combined with the bit of shapelessness on the bottom, but the top detailing really made this dress for me.

I think the mock-bandeau with the twist-front is a really cute and feminine touch.  I think it elevates the dress from plain to sweet.  With regards to the color, I think the color in my pictures is a little more true-to-life than the model pictures.  I can't really put my finger on it, but I think the model pictures' color is a little more saturated, but either way, it is a nice, fun color.

The dress comes with a removable halter strap, which is a nice touch, too.  Here it is without the strap.

I ended up taking this dress home.  The color, material, and twist-front won it over for me.  Normally, if I were even a little hesitant about something, I would ask The Boyfriend for his opinion, but he had parked himself in a chair and was playing a game on his iPhone, and was not available for decision-making.

What do you think?  Do you like this dress?  Do you own it?  Do you like the twist-front?  What is your favorite jersey dress?
