J.Crew FO: Printed Cap Sleeve Top Review

This is a top from the J.Crew Outlet that I'm calling the Printed Cap Sleeve Top (item #11958).  It was available in a few different patterns.  It is alpha-sized, and originally retailed for $44.50, but was on sale when I was at the Outlet this past week.  I think it might have been 25% off, but don't hold me to that!

This was actually the second time I tried on this top.  My friend encouraged me to try this top on when it first showed up, but we both agreed that it was better just to wait it out and see if it went on sale.

I think the top fits somewhat true to size, but I think it trends towards being on the bigger size.  I would normally wear a small in sleeved tops, but I took an extra small in this top easily.  It is a very loose, flowy top, so I would size based on the sleeve size, because they are elasticized.

I think the elastic at the neckline and the sleeves is a really pretty detail.  I think it makes the top sweet and feminine.  I also like the cap sleeves - it's a nice compromise between short sleeves and sleeveless.  I believe the fabric is a light cotton, and it is on the crisper side - it's smooth enough, but it's not super soft or anything.

The top verges on the shapeless side, but it is cut so that it's not too shapeless, and at least creates a nice, straight line.  Overall, it is a nice, comfortable top, if not somewhat basic with an interesting neck and sleeve detail.

Here is a close-up of the pattern.  I really like the pattern - the white with the dark pink is such a nice combination.

I ended up leaving this top behind.  I thought the full price was a little bit too much for top, and by the time it went on sale, I was going back and forth on it (which usually indicates to me that I don't totally love it).  I do think it's a really cute top though, and if it gets marked down more, I may end up picking it up.

What do you think?  Do you like this top?  Have you seen it in person?  Do you own it?
