J.Crew: Linen Tweed Mica Mini Review

This is J.Crews Linen Tweed Mica Mini skirt (item #16576), which retails for $69.50.  It is available in weathered stone, bright papaya, and navy.  It is numerically sized.  J.Crew describes the skirt as such:
Metallic yarns are woven into this textured linen to give it a slight touch of sparkle. In our new mini silhouette, with a foldover waistband. Cotton/linen/metallic threads. Sits just below waist. Back zip. Fully lined. 16" long. Import. Dry clean.
I tried this on as a review request, and so first let me say that I'm very sorry to Allison - she asked to see this in the weathered stone color, and I forgot that, and grabbed it in navy.  From what I recall, the weathered stone color is a little lighter in color in real life.  I tried this skirt on in a 4.  I believe the skirt fits true to size, and it is a very comfortable fit.  I think the skirt is a nice length, but keep in mind that I'm pretty short, so it will most likely be a bit shorter on some of you taller ladies out there.

The skirt is a fairly basic mini silhouette.  I would say that it's super flattering or that it's unflattering - it's just a basic mini.  It has offseam pockets that lean a little more towards the middle.  I thought they were in a bit of an awkward position - a little too low and a little too off-seam for me.  One detail that makes this skirt nice is the foldover waistband - it's a cute detail that I think elevates the skirt from being just another mini to a pretty versatile piece, allowing you to dress it up or down very easily.

The fabric is nice - fairly soft (as soft as linen can be), but it does have a slightly rougher weave, and a definite tweed feel.  One thing that is probably hard to see in this picture is the metallic threads in the skirt.  They aren't overly sparkly or shiny, but they give the skirt a very nice, super subtle metallic hue.

I thought this was a really cute skirt, but I don't usually buy mini skirts, just because I'm not comfortable in them.  I do think this skirt would work well styled a variety of ways, so I think would be a nice piece to add to your wardrobe if you like minis.  It is comfortable, fits well, and I think the metallic element is super cute.

What do you think?  Do you like this skirt?  Which color would you get it in?  Do you wear minis?  What do you think of the metallic?

I also tried this on in Navy at the B&M, it fit cute, but it wasn't cute enough to purchase (at least full price...) My store only had the navy and gold, I would have liked to try it in the pink :)

It's really too bad - they have so many cute minis and they are just WAAAAAAY too short for me. I'm not trying to be whiny; height has its advantages. But it does bum me out a bit that a whole category of their merchandise is off limits to me.

@GingerSnap - I think I would have liked it better with different pockets, and if it were longer - minis are just not for me!

@HeidiG - Wow, I can imagine how short it must be on taller ladies! I work with a very tall guy, and we agreed once that being short is slightly more advantageous when buying clothes - because you can almost always take in or shorten your clothes, but there's a limit to taking out or lengthening things. :(
