Movies: Sherlock Holmes Trailer

As revealed earlier, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of my all-time favorite books.  I was pretty excited to hear that Guy Ritchie would be filming an adaptation of this movie, which is slated for a Holiday 2009 release.  They have released a trailer for the movie, and I cannot wait to see this one!

Just as some background, I love movies.  I once dated a guy who had some magical movie pass that allowed us to go to the movies for just $1 each, so we were at the movies pretty much every weekend, and I got to see tons of movies.  The Boyfriend and I used to go quite a bit, but we hardly ever go at all now.

Just today, The Boyfriend told me he was sick of the movies...because we've gone twice in two weeks (Wolverine and Star Trek).  Before that, we hadn't been since Christmas, when we saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  We do, however, own a lot of DVDs - almost 400 at last count - so we have movie night at home...if we can decide which movie to watch.  Luckily, summer movie season is upon us, and it's looking to be a pretty good one!

I am a movie fanatic also! I love, love, love going to the movies! I started a new job about 8 months ago, and I make a lot more money (so I can indulge my jcrew obsession), but I have less free time to go to movies. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is also one of my favorite authors. I had no idea they were making a Sherlock Holmes movie. The trailer looks good, but Robert Downey Jr seems a little young. Maybe I just always pictured Sherlock Holmes as an older man.

Yay, I'm glad I won't just be blogging to myself about the movies then! We hardly go to the movies because of Psycho Dog - I feel really bad leaving him alone. And yay for another ACD lover :)

I always envision Holmes as older, skinnier - more like Vincent Price. Or embarrassingly, more like the Basil of Baker Street mouse from Disney's "The Great Mouse Detective" :)
