The Limited: New "Exotic" Arrivals & Dollars Off

The Limited is promoting their new "exotic" arrivals by offering a coupon for $20 off a purchase of $60 or more, and $30 off a purchase of $100 or more.  It says you can get this deal in-store and online - for online purchases, use the code 158 at checkout, and for in-store purchases, print out the coupon below (click the graphic and print), or click here.

I'm not that crazy about anything the model is wearing, and I'm actually feeling kind of shopped out right now, so I'll probably pass on this coupon.

What about you?  Will you check out The Limited's new arrivals?  Will you use this coupon?

Monday Giveaway: Black Patent Clutch

The Giveaway
Today's giveaway is a black patent clutch from The Limited.  It has an embossed pattern (similar to a faux-crocodile or something like that), and comes with a detachable arm/shoulder strap.  There is a zip pocket on the inside, and most of the inside is lined in a bright pink color.  There are front and back slots for cards, IDs, etc.  The clutch is on the slimmer side, but has expandable sides.

How To Win
If you would like to win this clutch, all you have to do is e-mail me by 8 AM tomorrow. If that link doesn't work, you can e-mail me at jadorethesestores AT gmail DOT com. I will randomly pick a winner and announce it tomorrow morning. Good luck!

The Limited: Buy One, Get One 50% Off

The Limited is offering a buy one, get one 50% off promotion this weekend, for Mother's Day.  The promotion is good from May 7 (yesterday) until Sunday, May 10.  This promotion applies in-store and online, but excludes markdowns.  No codes or coupons are required.

One interesting thing that I've noticed is that this promotion doesn't seem to work correctly online.  When these types of offers are in-store, you can combine items, as long as you only get the discount on the lower priced item.  However, online, it only seems to work if you fulfill the buy/get quantities with the exact same item, including color.

For example, yesterday I was trying to pick up a travel jewelry case, and I added one of each color to my basket, and they were both full price.  I only got the 50% off when I added two of the cases in the same color, and then the second one was half off (and the other color was still full price).  I hope that makes sense - it's just something to watch out for.

The Limited: Colorful Knits and Limited Edition Hat

The Limited is promoting its line of knit tops by focusing on its wide range of colors and colorful patterns.  I have always had pretty good luck with The Limited's knit tops.  They are of a nice, soft quality, and are easy to transition from professional to casual.

Of additional interest is The Limited's St. Tropez Beach Hat, of which there are only 20 available online.  I am not personally a fan of this hat - it's too busy for me, and I have no idea where I would wear it.

What do you think?  Do you like The Limited's colorful knits?  Do you like the St. Tropez Beach Hat?

The Limited: Dress Season Has Arrived

The Limited is promoting their line of dresses by reminding us that dress season has arrived.  As far as I'm concerned, dress season is 365 days a year!  I'm not really in love with any of The Limited's dresses right now.  I have a few of them, and they are wonderful, but I don't see anything that I am totally in love with in their current selection.

What about you?  Are you excited for spring and summer dresses?

The Limited: Studio Picks

I'm not entirely sure what The Limited's "Studio" is, but they are promoting their studio picks in the crisp, summer (as opposed to winter) white.  Above is the e-mail blurb about it, and below is a selection of summer white studio picks from The Limited's website.

I actually purchased a summer white cotton suit from the limited last year, and I love it.  I think their pants and blazers fit really well (except for being too long, like always :)).  I also like the two tops featured, but I would like to see them in person, as I've had some issues with The Limited's online items not always appearing accurately in person.

Just as a fun aside: do you know where the rule about when to wear white comes from?  According to Ask Yahoo! (RIP), there is no clear answer.  If I had to pick one, I would say that there is definitely a romantic notion to the way the Old South used to dress, so that theory is probably the one I prefer.

Do you follow this rule?  I wear white as basic pieces (camis, tanks, tees, work shirts), but I never wear summer white pants, jackets, coats, or shoes in the winter.  I own some nice winter white pieces that I think work well.  (And I don't really care what Stacy and Clinton think - they aggravate me to no end!)

What do you think?  Do you like The Limited's summer white pieces?  What do you think of the rules about when to wear white?

The Limited: Eco Chic Arrivals

The Limited is promoting its Eco Chic collection in conjunction with Earth Day.  This collection is made from organic cotton that is grown without pesticides.  There are a number of offerings, including tops, bottoms, dresses, and fabric accessories.

I think it's interesting to see what apparel companies have to offer in terms of "going green".  There is a huge range of options available, including different inks and dyes, fabrics, etc.  Gap has recently started using recycled paper for their hangtags in-store, which I thought was a nice touch, since most of these end up in the garbage.

Will you check out this collection?  What do you think of apparel companies' going green?

Monday Giveaway: The Limited Snake Hardcase

Updated

Please note that going forward, the deadline for entering the Monday Giveaway has changed.  It may vary from giveaway to giveaway, so please check each giveaway for the specific deadline.

The Giveaway
Today's Monday Giveaway is for a Snake Hardcase from The Limited (item #1360280), which describes the case as such:
Boring business cards get a blast of glamour when stored in our faux snake-skin hard case.  And let's face it - it's also the perfect clubbing wallet.  With just enough room for your credit card, I.D., and some mad money.  Golden metal trim provides a rigid structure.
I am giving away this case in the purple color.  I own this case myself, and I think the description is a tiny bit misleading, as it's not really as roomy as the description makes it sound.  While my credit card (same size as my ID card) fits into the slot on the left, it most certainly doesn't fit in the pouch on the right (but business cards and money would).  I do like this case though, as it's nice and compact if you only need the essentials.

How To Win
If you would like to win the snake hardcase, all you have to do is e-mail me by midnight tonight 7 AM tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. If that link doesn't work, you can e-mail me at jadorethesestores AT gmail DOT com. I will randomly pick a winner and announce it tomorrow morning. Good luck!

The Limited: Dresses & Update on Free Shipping

The Limited is currently promoting their line of dresses. I have bought a few dresses from The Limited, but I mainly stick to skirts. Their dresses fit fairly TTS, but it depends on the shape of the dress - strapless ones are very TTS, but other dresses, such as alpha-sized or sleeveless dresses may be a bit more tricky to fit.

As a follow up to this post about free shipping on orders of $100 or more, today's e-mail said that this offer is good until April 12, 2009.

A Worthy Substitute: The Limited for J.Crew

Hopefully at this point you are not tired of seeing worthy substitutes for J.Crew. To be honest, J.Crew is probably the brand that I regularly shop with the highest prices (Banana Republic comes close, but I usually shop the Outlet rather than retail), so I am most interested in finding good substitutes for J.Crew at the moment. But I am trying to find other substitutes, so keep checking back if you are tired of the J.Crew ones.

J.Crew has two practically-the-same necklaces. The Stone-Bead Ribbon Necklace (item #11488), which comes in a number of different colors, and Glass-Bead Ribbon Necklace (item #11487), which comes in black and grey shades. Both necklaces are $55, and are described as such:

Stone-Bead Ribbon Necklace
Brass and semiprecious stone beads. Length adjusts with 40" ribbon ties. Secured by little brass rings. No clasp. Import. Full necklace length 24".

Glass-Bead Ribbon Necklace
Brass and glass beads. Length adjusts with 40" ribbon ties. Secured by little brass rings. No clasp. Import. Full necklace length: 24".
I have this necklace in a dark grey color, and had my eye on a couple other colors, as well (although one of them is no longer available). I think it is a nice piece, and definitely not has heavy as I thought it would be. I think it works best to dress up a simple outfit.

The Limited has a necklace they call Burnished Beads on Ribbon Necklace (item #1486692), and it retails for $29.50. It is described as such:
Like sand-scuffed pebbles, our silver beads have rounded edges. Strung on a grosgrain ribbon, they create a sophisticated, muted monochrome look. Lobster claw clasp.
It's not an exact match, but I think it is close. I have not seen this necklace in person, but the stones seem less delicate than J.Crew's (even though J.Crew's is probably heavier), and I think the necklace has a slightly different vibe, owing to the larger, flatter, more trapezoidal shapes, as well as the burnished look of the stones.

What do you think? Would you wear this necklace? Do you think this necklace could be a worthy substitute for J.Crew's?
