Styling: J.Crew's Taffeta Rubgy Skirt

This is a follow-up post to the earlier review of J.Crew Outlet's version of the Taffeta Rugby skirt.  This is my suggestion for styling the retail version, but I think this would also work with the orange and grey stripes!

Banana Republic: Striped Jersey Empire-Waist Dress Styling

One of my favorite color combinations is navy blue with bright pink, and the always classic white. I've added pink accessories to the previously reviewed Banana Republic Striped Jersey Empire-Waist dress for some nice color accents, and added a white belt to create a more defined waist.

Gap: Striped Shirred Skirt Styling

I am posting a couple of Polyvore sets that I have created as a follow-up to today's yesterday's review of Gap's lovely Striped Shirred Skirt (not sure why it didn't post yesterday as scheduled).

The first set is for the grey skirt, which I paired with a basic white tee, layered under J.Crew's short-sleeve yellow cardigan, accented by J.Crew's silver metallic foil bet, and a pretty blue pendant. I finished it off with some bright yellow pumps.

For the pink skirt, I'd wear a bright pink basic tee, layered under a white cardigan, and use J.Crew's beaded ribbon belt as a pretty accent piece. For shoes, I'd wear some pretty flip-flops with white straps, and leave the hair nice and simple with a bright pink headband.

J.Crew: Cotton-Poplin Tie Dress Styling

Celery & Silver
Today was my first real foray into the world of Polyvore, a tool that is used and loved by many. I will continue to play around with, and post sets I create that I think are of interest, especially those for clothes I actually review.

Today's set is Celery & Silver, in which I paired yesterday's review,
J.Crew's Cotton Poplin Tie-Front Dress, with some classic accessories:

  • A J.Crew Jackie cardigan in light pewter
  • A pair of J.Crew Pippa sandals in silver
  • A pearl bracelet (photo from Forever 21)
I also wanted to add a pink headband to this set, but I didn't like any of the pictures of the headbands, so I'm just letting you know. I think a nice bright (not electric) pink headband would a nice color contrast to this outfit, and prevent it from looking bland or washing you out. (You could say it will add a nice "pop of color", but you will not ever hear me say this, because I cannot stand that phrase!)

Polyvore posts will be tagged as Polyvore, and then as the focus item(s) and brand(s). Because this set was built around the J.Crew dress, it is tagged as both JCrew and dresses.]
