J.Crew: Gondry Tee Review

This is J.Crew's Gondry Tee (item #14553), which retails for $45. I believe it's only available in-stores right now, and it also comes in grey. I tried it on in the ivory color.

I think this tee might be a slub cotton. It fits true-to-size in my regular tee size, and has a bright fireworks-like design all over the upper left of the tee. The colors of the fireworks are little pieces of fabric sewn on. There is also a small fireworks pattern on the bottom right side of the tee, but without the colors.

The tee is unadorned on the left side and the back, and is a pretty basic tee except for the front.

I think because this is the ivory color, it is a little bit sheer, but not too sheer that you would need a cami or another tee underneath.

This is a cose-up of the pattern, which I think is pretty cute. The little swatches of fabric are a little frayed, which lends itself to either a more casual or more sloppy feel (depends on your tastes I think).

The Boyfriend really liked this tee. I liked it okay, but I definitely didn't like it enough to pay $45 for it. I might consider picking it up with the Red Card, but I don't know.

What do you think of this tee? Would you pick it up in the grey color? Do you think it is worth $45?

Hi Ashley - thanks! This is a small. Maybe I will get it with the Red Card after all!

Hi kirbydog - Did you get it in white or grey? I think it is cute, but left it because I didn't love it!

I bought one over the weekend as well (at Easton) - they were already out of most sizes (unless there were more in the back) - and the Polaris B&M didn't have any!

I got the cream colored tee w/the gray print (the one you're wearing) - there's also a cream colored tee with a hot pink print. I thought that might be a bit much for me. The price was a bit steep for what it is, but so many of the new tees sell out so quickly now (I wish I had the rose chiffon in black....I only got the cream color. bah!) It was worth it to me. (And the red card helped.) :)

I purchased 2; a grey one & an ivory one! (I am so bad!) I did use my 25% off card. The SA was wearing the grey w/ a white button-down under it, the denim wendy skirt, & black boots! It was so cute! I live in JC's tees (love them), so even though they are pricey, I think I get my money(s) worth out of them! BTW, I really enjoy your blog!

Hi all! First of all, let me tell you that The Boyfriend enjoyed a nice "I told you so!" moment after reading all your comments :)

I went back to the store and tried it on again, but I am just not in love with it - just like it, so I passed again. Maybe third time will be the charm during our Boston JCA event.

I'm glad you all like it though - I bet you all look fabulous in it!

@MMM - Thank you so much!!! I also love J.Crew's tees - I have some that are years old!
